Last week I had a great last-minute idea to surprise my Mother for Mother’s Day. Surprised she was! She would not even let me in her house because she just stood there in shock.
Once she realized that I was staying, off we went to a Mother & Daughter dinner and comedy show at her church.
It was a beautiful weekend in Connecticut and every minute was filled with family and meeting new people in my family’s life. A 5k run that my sister won 1st place for her age group, two cookouts and many back-rubs from my Mama!
My only request that I had this visit was I wanted to see the ocean. Everyone kept saying, “but the beaches are ruined from the storm.” You see they didn’t understand, I just wanted to see the ocean. Not the beach. I wanted to see and smell the New England Coast that I miss so much living in the Midwest.
So on Monday, I dragged my Mom, sister and little cousin to the coast for my wedding anniversary.
And yes, my love tank was filled up with what I love the most about New England, the salty air, the boats and the ocean. So thank you Mom, Jodi and Little Laura for being with me on my anniversary and letting me get that little piece of joy!
To top it off, I got to indulge in some Lobster on that night as well. The only way to eat it is at home with some lemon and butter….BUT only after a lobster race! Which if you look closely, I am on the top in a strong lead to the water pot.
