I just came back from a bittersweet weekend in San Diego with my in-laws. We were there to celebrate my father in-law Jose Rodriguez’s life. At times the weekend was surreal, waiting for Papa Joe to crack a joke with his boisterous laugh and it not being there…..or other times we would have some quiet moments just realizing why we were there. We would celebrate at night at the restaurants that were our family rituals and order the same meals that we would each time we met.
Joyful, tired, blessed, sad, thankful……were just some emotions that were in the air this weekend.
Papa Joe led a remarkable, full and joyful life and lived each moment to the fullest. I am thankful for the brother and sister in-laws that I have because of him.
He will be greatly missed and I am thankful for the memories that he created for my family.
Rest in Peace Papa Joe…
